Wednesday With Words

I have been reading Soul Keeping by John Ortberg. There have been many sections that have reached out to me and begged me to take a second and third look. The words in this book have drawn light into some corners of darkness. I would like to share some quotes from the book.

According to Dallas (Willard), the sould seeks harmony, connection, and integration. That is why integrity is such a deep soul-word. The human soul seeks to integrate our will and our mind and our body into an integral person. (pg.42)

Therefore, according to Dallas, an unhealthy soul is one that experiences dis-integration of the soul. As Leonard Cohen put it, “The blizzard of the world has crossed the threshold, and it has overturned the order of the soul.” (pg.43)

A disintegrated soul. That term struck home.
